Treatment
The final project that I want to do is going to be about a robot from the future. I’m not really sure if it takes place in the future or not. She is programmed for evil, but when she hears about heaven, she wants to go. That is when she decides that she has to do good works ad make up for the wrong she has done in an effort to get there. It would be more interesting if there were a love interest involved to spice things up. It may have a narrative feel mixed with an experimental one.
I think this is important because it has sort of a personal way of expressing my ideas when it comes to religion and love. I had had to deal with some issues lately and this idea speaks to me. Hopefully, it is not a story that has told much. I think the futuristic aspect will have an interesting effect on how the story plays out and that is where the experimental side will shine and become important. The fact that the subject is a robot will add another dimension to the character. I do not like see-through, 2 dimensional main subjects. But, this will only be a short assignment so it will be a challenge to adequately fill out the character in such little time. The main themes will be dealing with love, religion, what is right versus what is wrong, what makes a robot different from a person, etc.
Putting the project together will be a lot of work. I was thinking about scanning textures into the Photoshop. There I will create texture masks like I did for my Rotoscope project, but I will definitely need to sort out what the problem was so there will not be any more glitches. I have already drawn what I think the robot should look like in Photoshop. Hopefully, I will be able to use the puppet tool in After Effects for a lot of the “motion”. I will do this so that it will cut out a lot of the work of tedious, time consuming animating that would be required. The After Effects practice exercises that we did during class would be invaluable towards me completing this project. I have also been looking at tutorials online from experienced After Effects users. I will probably use myself as voice actor to streamline the process. And also, it is because I want to do voice acting in the future and this would be a good chance to try it out.
